3:37 3:39 Fighters gaza's civil defense said
3:39 3:41 hundreds of buildings and houses were
3:41 3:44 destroyed and thousands more damaged
3:44 3:47 Israel also cut most power and cell
3:47 3:49 phone signals in Gaza to disrupt Hamas
3:49 3:51 Communications but that also further
3:51 3:54 isolated the civilians living and now
3:54 3:56 dying there the shattering of families
3:56 3:59 in the past 3 weeks sparing no one
3:59 4:01 regardless of

4:39 4:41 when it's time to war we know how to
4:41 4:43 fight and we will do it and we will
4:43 4:45 prevail and tonight the families of
4:45 4:47 those hostages met prime minister
4:47 4:49 Benjamin Netanyahu they are angry that
4:49 4:51 they were not consulted by Israel's war
4:51 4:54 cabinet before these expanded ground
4:54 4:56 operations Adriana the fear that they

5:12 5:15 Natalie hi Adriana the president is in

5:27 5:29 defend itself against Hamas and that the
5:29 5:31 US is sharing tools and perspectives to
5:31 5:34 help the Israelis do that but the White
5:34 5:36 House has also stepped up calls for
5:36 5:38 Israel to limit civilian casualties and
5:38 5:41 to accelerate humanitarian assistance
5:41 5:43 into Gaza which the president
5:43 5:45 acknowledges is not happening fast
5:45 5:48 enough it's also unclear how this new
5:48 5:50 phase of the war impacts hostage
5:50 5:53 negotiations the president has also said
5:53 5:55 that there has to be a vision for what
5:55 5:58 comes next after this conflict we know
5:58 6:00 the administration remains focused on
6:00 6:02 trying to prevent this conflict from

10:33 10:37 Strong Uvaldi strong unfortunately a
10:37 10:39 common refrain in communities that have
10:39 10:43 been through this kind of trauma and
10:43 10:44 while they are looking forward to the
10:44 10:48 future here they will also remember and

11:46 11:49 in Las Vegas he has struggled to win
11:49 11:51 over GOP voters and raise money since
11:51 11:54 entering the crowded race last summer as
11:54 11:56 the campaign of former president Trump
11:56 11:59 surged straight ahead on the CBS weekend
11:59 12:02 news hot Farms how The Summer's heat is
12:02 12:05 taking a toll on this Fall's harvest the
12:05 12:08 latest finding ways to teach physics
12:08 12:15 through the age of social
12:15 12:18 media it was a perfect day here around
12:18 12:20 the nation's capital to enjoy the great
12:20 12:23 outdoors today temperatures are up to 25
12:23 12:25 degrees above normal for millions in the

12:33 12:36 Wildfire concerns this Summer's record
12:36 12:37 heat and drought is expected to push
12:37 12:41 food prices up by at least 5% this year
12:41 12:42 according to a Department of Agriculture
12:42 12:46 forecast and as cbs's Mark stman reports
12:46 12:48 farmers are now reaping a harvest that's
12:48 12:52 meager at best van hansing grows peanuts
12:52 12:55 and cotton but this Mississippi farmer
12:55 12:58 is harvesting a disaster it probably
12:58 13:00 took 23 of the cotton crop and and
13:00 13:02 probably half of the peanut crop I've
13:02 13:05 been farmed for over 40 years and I've
13:05 13:08 never seen anything like this his losses
13:08 13:12 alone about $1.2 million too much heat
13:12 13:15 too little rain this one's got a a a
13:15 13:17 piece of a bean in it this Summer's same
13:17 13:19 onew punch that knocked down Jack
13:19 13:22 dorsey's soybean harvest in neighboring
13:22 13:25 Louisiana he calls soybeans poverty peas
13:25 13:28 everything hurts on a farm if if uh
13:28 13:29 you're not getting everything all the
13:29 13:31 potential out of your crop over the
13:31 13:33 summer here in Franklin Parish 27 days
13:33 13:36 of triple digit heat baked crops making
13:36 13:39 matters worse between mid July and the
13:39 13:42 end of August no rain for nearly 6 weeks
13:42 13:45 not one drop another issue for these
13:45 13:47 soybean Fields it never really cooled
13:47 13:49 down at night during the scorcher of a
13:49 13:51 summer that further stressed these beans
13:51 13:54 which further stressed these Farmers
13:54 13:56 summer extremes hit Farms from
13:56 13:59 California to Minnesota to Mississippi
13:59 14:01 its impact hitting Farmers like Dy and
14:01 14:05 consumers like us he's lucky his loss
14:05 14:08 about 15% of his soybeans it looks like
14:08 14:11 we're going to get our crop out which is
14:11 14:15 huge it's what always seeds a farmer
